Health checks encompass an number of different tests and analysis's designed to reveal personal information which provides you with facts and details about your wellbeing. Once you are in possesion of facts then you can make informed choices about how you would like to improve your health.

Lifestyle Analysis

This section will explore all daily behaviours and habits which impact on health, for example sleep patterns, diet, alcohol consumption, activity levels, exercise habits, relaxation methods, sedentary behaviours, family health, fluid intake and social interaction.

Habits and behaviours which negaitively impact on health, are often formed over many years, this then becomes a normal part of daily routine. High fat foods, skipping meals, disturbed sleep patterns, late nights, convenience foods, low activity levels, long working hours, poor time management or an inability to prioritise are examples of habits which contribute to poor health.

Stress Management Analysis

The ability to tolerate pressure is unique to all people; a worry for one person may not even be noticed by another. In addition the stress responses displayed will also differ from person to person. Exploring our responses allows the opportunity to discover the triggers which cause a response, if we recognise triggers then controlling the situation maybe an option. Once you are in control of your own mindset then stress responses can be reduced or eradicated.

Wellbeing and Health is a combination of physiological and psychological attributes; psychological health refers to our mental state - in short these are our thought processes. Our thoughts drive our behaviours,it is because thoughts, actions and feelings are intrinsically linked that we have better control of our health if we can recognise if some of our thoughts begin to result in a stress response.

Physical function test

These test are primarily based on the physical function that we require every day, for example how does your heart respond to mild exertion, how mobile are you, do you have enough leg strength and balance to climb the stairs.

The test includes

  • Flexibility test
  • Circumference measurements

Older adults

Health checks are ideal for the older adult if joint mobility and muscle flexibility are poor then this will have a negative impact on movement. Poor shoulder mobility restricts movements like washing hair, reaching into high cupboards etc.

Reduction of muscle strength inhibits the ability to climb stairs, additionally if balance is poor then confidence can also be an issue.

Weight loss

The issue of excessive weight is a common theme within western society and many people have used dieting as a way of losing weight. Often the results are experienced quickly only to be reversed at the slightest blip back into old habits. Our weight loss programmes focus on reducing fat, using the information gathered during the health check. This differs dramatically to traditional weight loss programmes, your health check will reveal information like fat percentage, lean tissue, eating habits, stress responses, sleeping patterns and activity levels. These habits and behaviours influence your physical condition, if we can identify the aspects of your lifestyle which contribute to weight gain then it is within your control to change them. This does not mean excessive exercising or dieting but some changes which make a huge difference.

Sensible weight loss is about making lifestyle changes and behaviour changes which become habit and sustainable. These changes are based on current lifestyle and modified to improve health or reduce weight.

The heallth checks provide a factually based starting point to work from, using your personal information we work with you to improve your health.

This may be in a variety of different ways either health coaching or exercise programming or a combination of both. Some people find that once information is clear then they are very motivated to gain results; we can help you to reach your potential, lose weight, increase your fitness, manage your stress, become confident etc.

We provide specialist exercise programmes for those who are self motivated, our programmes include any activity which appeals to you, it maybe swimming, tennis, running, jogging, walking, team sport, gym, pilates.....literally anything you like!!

Clients who dont know how to achieve their goals benefit from health coaching, this helps our clients to become clear about what goals they would like to target. Action plans to achieve goals are established at the end of each session.
